4) Jama Masjid, Agra:
Jama Masjid is located opposite the Delhi gate of Agra Fort. It was built in 1648 by Shah Jahan in name of his daughter Jahan Ara. Both Shah Jahan and his beloved daughter were eventually imprisoned by Aurangzeb.

river Yamuna is the exquisite Itimad-ud-daulah – the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg. Mirza Ghiyas was the wazir ( prime minister) of emperor Jehangir and also the father of the Jehangir`s beautiful wife Nur Jahan.
This tomb was constructed by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628, This was the first Mughal structure built totally from marble and the one that used the marble inlay work of Taj Mahal fame.
This place is fondly called ‘Baby Taj’.
6) Akbar’s Mausoleum/ Sikandra:
garden of Sikandra, about 4km north – west of Agra. Akbar started its construction during his living days, only to be finished by his son Jehangir. The place is open from sunrise to sunset
7) Other Places in Agra :
Agra is full of Mughal history, tombs big and small are present everywhere. Depending on the time you have you might want to prioritize (presented in order above). There is Dayal Bagh Temple of Radha Soami sect which has been under construction since 1904. Then there is “Ram Bagh” which is a deserted place now but used to be amongst the earliest Mughal gardens.Also around is Maryan’s Tomb .Maryan was the Goan-Christian wife of emperor Akbar. |
